Vulombe, a Tsonga word for ‘honey,’ is a short film created by Rendani Nemakhavhani in collaboration with Simba and Wesley Takaedza of twofold.
The premise of Vulombe is an election campaign that runs parallel to the South African 2024 elections, featuring Rendani Nemakhavhani as ‘The PR$DNT’ — highlighting the dichotomy of the character’s personal and presidential beliefs. The film was screened for the first time on the 30th of May 2024 at Mamakashaka and Friends and we had the privilege of attending the premiere — delving into the enthralling narrative and visual storytelling of Vulombe. All in all, the short film is a masterstroke of navigating the complexities of identity, power, and societal expectations within the realm of South African politics.
