When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in Painting
Featuring more than 200 artworks from 74 institutional and private lenders, When We See Us, curated by Koyo Kouoh explores Black self-representation — celebrating how artists from Africa and its diaspora have imagined, positioned, memorialised and asserted African and African-descent experiences.
The Manor attended this enriching exhibition at Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town, and with the exhibition drawing to a close on 2, we look back on the captivating artworks, people and narratives that converged in this showcase of artistic expression and cultural significance.
