On the 27th of June 2024, The Manor in collaboration with Strauss & Co. and Don Julio hosted an unforgettable panel discussion at the Sibadala Sibancane exhibition space at Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
The panel discussion celebrated African artists, Trevor Stuurman, Justice Mukheli, and Lebohang Kganye who have all contributed to the broader discourse within the art world — redefining the intersection of photography, art, and society by reflecting on their individual journeys as a visual artists. The discussion, moderated by artist, curator and founding member of Occupying The Gallery, Lawrence Lemaoana, explored how these artists’ work challenges conventional narratives, while addressing historical, social and political issues to offer new perspectives on African identity and culture. By delving into the artists’ personal experiences and creative processes, the panel highlighted the transformative power of photography in Africa.
