Women in Art, The Manor’s latest publication, is an issue dedicated to all the powerful women championing and amplifying the voices of African women in art. After the successful release of the issue in August, we wanted to bring those pages to life — a physical manifestation, a tangible, visual experience to embody and share these narratives
The in-store exhibition, curated by visual artist and founder of The Manor, Trevor Stuurman, brings to life the talent and creativity that shaped our latest issue, featuring works by some of the artists featured in the publication. The Manor is the home to Africa’s greatest stories and our new concept store aims to represent that mantra physically, a space that’s constantly in flux to showcase the best of African art.
Our latest exhibition features selected works by PR$DNT Honey, Boemo Diale, Buqaqawuli Nobakada, Francis Goodman, Mikhailia Petersen, and Lebogang Tlhako (Sister Bozza), and Zanele Montle. The exhibition also features cover stars of Women in Art, Zoë Modiga and Thandiswa Mazwai, as photographed by Nondumiso Shange and Trevor Stuurman respectively.
This in-store exhibition not only showcases incredible artistry but also represents a broader narrative of community through a visual language that represents identity and womanhood. Through various mediums, from photography and sculpture to illustration and painting, the featured artists tell stories that reflect the diverse experiences and cultures of African women.
Our concept store and exhibition space is open from 9am — 5pm daily at 44 Stanley, Braamfontein Werf, Johannesburg.
