CONFECTIONS X COLLECTIONS | LAGOS SPACE PROGRAMME

At this year’s Confections x Collections, Lagos Space Programme, led by Adeju Thompson, inspired us with a collection that melded Yoruba heritage and forward-thinking design. Known for redefining sartorial norms, Thompson’s work showcased gender-fluid silhouettes, intricate textile techniques, and conceptual narratives that both celebrate and reimagine African identity. This collection was a powerful reflection on tradition, blending craftsmanship with futuristic aesthetics and challenging preconceived notions of African fashion.

The showcase, curated by Twyg and hosted at the historic Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, underscored the growing influence of African designers in the global fashion landscape. Lagos Space Programme’s dedication to cultural preservation through contemporary design exemplifies how heritage and innovation can coexist, creating garments that are both deeply rooted in heritage yet are still contemporary. This approach continues to push boundaries and cement Africa’s place in sustainable, avant-garde fashion.
