The PhotoVogue Festival, the first conscious fashion photography festival bridging ethics and aesthetics, returns to Milan for its ninth edition from 6 to 9 March 2025, at BASE Milano.

This year’s festival explores the theme “The Tree of Life: A Love Letter to Nature” — celebrating the resilience, interconnectedness, and beauty of the natural world while addressing pressing global challenges. “Art has the power to inspire meaningful change,” says Alessia Glaviano, Head of Global PhotoVogue and Festival Director. “This edition of the PhotoVogue Festival aims to foster a deeper understanding of our kinship with all living beings and spark collective action to protect our shared home.”

In recent years, nature and climate change have become dominant themes in art and photography reflecting the growing urgency to document and respond to environmental shifts. As we witness landscapes transform, photography allows us to capture both the beauty and ruggedness of the natural world — contrasting sanguine moments with fragility.

Since its inception, the festival has championed themes that are ethically and aesthetically significant, exploring subjects such as the female gaze, representation, masculinity, inclusivity, and reframing history. It has examined the pervasive influence of imagery in shaping our understanding of the world and addressed cutting-edge topics, including the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and its ethical implications in image creation.

This year’s exhibitions include: The Tree of Life: A Love Letter to Nature — the festival’s central exhibition with 50 artists whose works serve as visual tributes to nature; Latin America Panorama — celebrating diverse artistic voices from Latin America, exploring themes of identity, culture, and environmental interdependence, and lastly, The Tree Of Change — a series of slideshows, videos, and contributions from organisations dedicated to environmental advocacy.

The festival runs from 6 to 9 March 2025 at BASE Milano, Italy.
