G-Star hosted an intimate evening of rhythm and reverie to celebrate their latest collaboration with acclaimed pianist and composer Nduduzo Makhathini — in anticipation of this year’s Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
Known for the genuinely spiritual transcendence of his music, Makhathini brought that same intention to this partnership, rooted in creative freedom, heritage, and unapologetic expression.
The evening kicked off with a performance by creative collective Dear Ribane, setting the tone for what followed — a special live set from Nduduzo Makhathini, who is set to take centre stage alongside Black Coffee at this year’s festival. The MC of the evening, Siv Ngesi, brought the energy on what was an electric and unforgettable night.
The event also marked the beginning of a new creative chapter with G-Star, who have aligned with the artist for a unique cultural partnership. Rather than a typical brand endorsement, this collaboration is centered on mutual values, craft, creative defiance, and deep-rooted storytelling.
The guest list brought together some of the country’s leading creative voices, including Nontando Mposo (Editor-in-Chief, Glamour), Molife Kumona (Editor-in-Chief, GQ), designer Lukhanyo Mdingi, and visual artist and founder of The Manor, Trevor Stuurman.
Also in attendance were Jo Ann Strauss, former Miss South Africa and global media personality, as well as radio presenter Jamie Domburg.
As expected, guests arrived dressed to the nines, all in appreciation of what happens when music, fashion, and storytelling come together with purpose.
