Nigerian brand IAMISIGO’s triumph at Copenhagen Fashion Week AW25 is the perfect example that fashion can be both boundary-breaking and rooted in storytelling. Drawing on textiles and craft traditions from across Lagos, Nairobi, and Accra, the brand reimagines contemporary style while preserving cultural legacy. The result is a collection that challenges gender norms, empowers local communities, and delivers a bold, fresh perspective on what it means to create positive change in the industry.
The Zalando Visionary Award honours excellence in design, innovation, and social impact. This year’s finalists — FEBEN, IAMISIGO, and Rave Review — were selected for their dedication to reshaping fashion through bold creativity and commitment to inclusivity and design. Aligned with Copenhagen Fashion Week’s Sustainability Requirements, the award also underscores Zalando’s commitment to championing positive change in the industry.
The contemporary, wearable art brand is inspired by memory and spiritual connection to create pieces that focus on traditional craft techniques with distinct geographical perspectives. The jury emphasised that the founder of the brand, Bubu Ogisi, “embodies the essence of a visionary in many ways, and that she is a rare creative talent working in this space today, with a brand whose output is both beautiful and miraculous.”
On winning the award, Bubu Ogisi said: “I am very grateful for the recognition and I believe that this is just the beginning of an exciting partnership for IAMISIGO as we evolve as a brand. Expect some magic in August!”.
