Last night, G-STAR set the tone for Jazz Week in Cape Town with an intimate, style-forward gathering at Vault on Bree, as part of Jazz in the City. Tucked on the corner of Castle and Bree Street, the space transformed into DJ Bob’s Jazz Club, featuring DJ Bob alongside Sumthin Brown, Atiyyah Khan and Paul Waxon, bringing South Africa’s underground vinyl culture into one room. Built on pure vinyl and jazz archives, the listening bar leaned into a more intentional way of experiencing sound.

G-STAR’s presence felt embedded rather than imposed, the denim of the city worn by the selectors keeping vinyl alive. With the night doubling as a convergence point ahead of the weekend’s main stages. Sarah Langa, Nduduzo Makhathini, members of Kujenga and Arthur Dlamini were among those in the room, a cross-section of artists and tastemakers already in rhythm as the city leans into jazz.

Beyond the floor, Jazz Week at The Vault extends into The G-STAR Drop, a series of in-store moments marking one of the city’s biggest cultural weeks. Vault on Bree is offering 25% off all in-store purchases, and 30% off plus a complimentary G-STAR cap for those holding an all-access Jazz in the City ticket. The space remains active throughout the week, inviting people to move between music, style and community, with the full G-STAR look book available to view and shop in-store.

As a prelude to the weekend, the night read clearly, before the big stages, jazz lives in rooms like this.
